Bakhytzhan Kenzheev reminded of the first publication of Mukhtar Auezov's book "Beauty in Mourning" in English. The book includes the best examples of flash fiction of the classic of Kazakh literature Mukhtar Auezov written by him in the 1920s-1930s, such as "An Orphan’s Lot", "Beauty in Mourning", "Savage Grey", "Gunshot at the Pass" and others. The book was published thanks to the support of the Almaty city akim – Bauyrzhan Baibek.
This novelty continues a series of books under the general title "We – the Kazakhs ...". This project has been initiated by the Kazakh PEN club which pursues an ambitious goal – publication of the best works of the Kazakh national literature in English in the US and in the UK. The book "Beauty in Mourning" is now available to any reader anywhere in the world. This became possible since the book has been placed in the world online store "Amazon". Bigeldy Gabdullin reported members of the Executive Committee about the visit and stay of English translators Simon Hollingsworth and Simon Geoghegan in our country, who have translated into their native language the flash fiction of Mukhtar Auezov, which later was published in a separate volume.
Moreover, it has also been announced that the Kazakh PEN club initiated and supported the publication of the book of memoirs of the oldest satirical writer – Gabbas Kabyshuly "Конил Когинде" ("When the Soul Whispers") Finally, the new members have been accepted to the Kazakh PEN club. They are the world-famous poet Bakhytzhan Kenzheev, who lives in New York, and the talented young poet Makpal Zhumbai.
